Laura Chau

Laura Chau first learned to knit at age 12, in a packed car on a family trip to Stratford, Ontario. She knit a long, long scarf before setting it down in favour of other assorted crafts – beading, sculpting, sewing, cross stitch. Years later, she was inspired to pick it up again when she saw a woman knitting on the bus.

Laura released her first self-published knitting pattern, Lucy in the Sky, in 2006. She was also published for the first time, in the Fall 2006 issue of Knitty. Since then, she has self-published over 50 designs, written Teach Yourself Visually Sock Knitting (released by Wiley in 2008), and worked with amazing publications such as Twist Collective and Knitty.

In her work, she strives to design garments and accessories that are both classic and modern, as well as flattering, comfortable, and above all wearable. She provides detailed, clear instructions so that you can have the most enjoyable knitting experience possible.
