Kate Davies
Kate Davies lives in Edinburgh with Tom (a man) Bruce (a labrador retriever) and Jesus (a cat). She loves writing, designing, and walking in the wonderful Scottish landscape. She finds that all of these activities have a creative and a critical dimension and the best of possible worlds is one in which she productively combines them all.She has written many features about fashion and textile history for Rowan, The Knitter, Twist Collective, Selvedge, and many other magazines. She also produces her own digital magazine, Textisles.
Kate likes her choice of materials to have a genuine connection to the landscape in which she lives and works, and prefers to use yarns from UK and Irish producers, processors and distributors in her designs. She particularly enjoys knitting and designing with breed-specific wools. There are some wonderful and much underappreciated sheep and shepherds about!
