This shawl begins with a Shetland construction method to create the center triangle. Stitches are then easily picked up from the yarn over loops that are formed down two sides and the border is worked outwards from the triangle. The shawl is finished with an edging that is knitted sideways and attached to the live sts of the border as it is being worked. Lace is worked on both sides of the knitting, however there is no right or wrong side to the knitting.

Gauge: 20 sts and 40 rows = 4 inches in garter st on US 6/4mm needles. Adjust needle size as necessary to obtain correct gauge. (Exact gauge is not crucial as there is a generous amount of give in this shawl at the blocking stage).
Finished Measurements: Approx 60"/153cm across top of shawl and 27"/69cm in depth at center back of shawl.
Materials: 700 yards/640m laceweight yarn. Shown in Madelinetosh Tosh Lace (950 yards/869m/114g; 100% Superwash Merino Wool) colour 'denim'.
Needles: US 6/4mm 32"/80cm circular needle.

Please note that this pattern is sold as a physical copy; it is not a PDF.
