An asymmetrical shawl with a lot of character.

About a month ago, my good friend Jodi asked me to help her surprise her sister Tracie with a special Christmas gift: I designed a shawl for her to knit as an ultra secret project
No one had seen it before. It was something new and especially designed for her. As you can see, I hold these two in my heart. I tried to think of something that Jodi could knit quickly and easily, but also something that Tracie would like to wear…
This is the surprise she received. I hope you’ll like this design!

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
96” (240 cm) from side to side and 21” (52 cm) from top to bottom at deepest point.

MATERIALS
Yarn: 3 skeins of 1-ply Superwash Merino Fingering by Lichen and Lace (100 superwash merino, 100g / 400 y) or 840 yards of fingering weight yarn.
You will need 2 skeins (440 yards) in COLOR 1, shown in Shrub (moss green) and 1 skein (400 yards) in COLOR 2, shown in Silver Fox (pale gray).
Note: The yarn I used for this project used to come in 115g / 475 yard skeins, so for this project I only needed 1 skein of each color.
Needles: US 7 (4.5mm) needles.
Other notions: Tapestry needle, blocking pins or wires.

GAUGE
17 st and 36 rows to 4” (10cm) in garter st on US 7 (4.5 mm) needles after blocking.
Gauge is not crucial for this project, but changes might result in a different yardage requirement.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES
This shawl is constructed sideways from tip to tip. Some sts are increased at one side while some sts are decreased on the opposite, giving this triangle its biased look.
The techniques used are so simple that make this shawl perfect for beginners.
