Daruma yarns are spun by a small mill in Japan, and are exclusively available to a small number of shops around the world. Loop is so proud to be the London Flagship shop! Daruma yarns are made in 'Bishu', the main area in Japan for woolen fabric. Bishu is on the Noubi Plain, the source of the river Kiso, an easy place to grow mulberry and cotton and the soft water is suitable for the dyeing process. The company started in Kyoto in 1901, making threads for silk fabrics and sewing threads. Eventually Daruma began to also work on the dye process and mills. Today, the wonderful women of Amirisu Magazine collaborate with Daruma to design very beautiful patterns using the Genmou yarn.
