March 15 & 22nd -SOLD OUT
June 21 & 28th - available to book now.
This class is held over two consecutive Sundays from 1-4:00pm (6 hours tuition in total)
To celebrate the launch of the beautiful new book by Laine Magazine, 52 Weeks of Socks , we are offering a new advanced Sock Knitting Class that's sure to get the creative juices flowing.
Has 52 weeks of Socks by Laine rekindled your interest in sock knitting? Have you flicked through the pages of beautiful socks and felt a little daunted by the array of techniques involved? If so, this class is for you.
Jane, our resident sock enthusiast has been through all the patterns and developed this brand new class based on the skills required to complete the socks in this book and indeed any sock pattern which may seem slightly out of your comfort zone.
Each week you will be presented with a range of skills to practice and lots of advice on getting the most from your new book or patterns. As participants are likely to come with a range of established skills, each person will have the chance to practice a skill or skills of their choice in class.
Purchase of the book is not essential for booking onto this class. It is mainly used for reference of techniques.
Over the two weeks you will have the chance to look at the following:
Heels and texture
Short row heel
Flap and gusset heel
Cables and Twisted stitches
Toes and Colourwork
Judy’s Magic Cast On
*Please bring an 80 cm 2.5mm circular needle with a smooth join to class. We recommend ChiaoGoo or Addi Sock Rockets for ease of use, pointy tips and a beautiful seamless join. You can of course bring your own favourite needles to use.
Yarn will be provided but feel free to bring in any scrap yarn or special yarn you might be using for a specific project.
Snacks , tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day.
